Due to the continued unhealthy air quality in Seattle, Villa Academy's campus will be closed to all students through Friday, September 18, 2020.
There will be no preschool classes on campus and the supervised on-line instruction for students through the EDP program will not meet on campus.

On-line instruction will take place as previously planned and faculty/staff members will be allowed to use their Villa Academy classroom, if necessary, to provide on-line instruction.

We Stand with Asian Americans

Dear Friends,

Earlier this week we all learned of a series of shootings in the Atlanta area that appeared to target an Asian/Asian-American community there. These shootings come at a time of increasing violence, nation-wide, targeting our Asian/Asian-American brothers and sisters.

Villa Academy is dedicated to the truth that we are all created in the image and likeness of God. As such, we are committed to honoring the dignity of each and every person. We reiterate our commitment to celebrate the gift of diversity and pledge to stand with any person or group who may be the target of hate, bias, or injustice. It’s who we are as a Catholic school. It’s who we are as a community.

We may feel that there's not much we can do to push back on this disturbing trend, but we can. Under the heading, “bloom where you’re planted,” we can—today and every day— recommit our support to our Villa families who are of Asian or Pacific-Islander descent by plainly stating: “You, your children, and your family are welcome, valued, and safe at Villa Academy. You are an important part of this community."

Here's an article that you may find helpful in talking with children about anti-Asian racism. This resource, along with others, have been provided to Villa’s faculty/staff to help each other and “our kids” deal with this issue. If you are aware of additional resources, please contact
Andrés Arteaga, Villa’s Director of Equity Education and Inclusion.
