Speech Team Success

Congratulations to Lauren F., Villa 7th grader, who took 2nd place in the Novice Impromptu category at the Bishop Blanchet Speech Tournament in December. Fifteen schools competed this year with more than 225 competitors participating in 300+ events.

In the Impromtu category, the speaker has two minutes to choose a topic from the three choices given (a word, a social question/comment, or a quotation). The speaker must then organize a five-minute (maximum) talk on that topic, without using outside sources or notes as aids for their speech.
