Anti-Racism Speaker Series: Tiq Milan
Villa Academy piloted the Anti-Racism Speaker Series to embrace diversity of identity and thought as core characteristics of our Catholic faith. Villa Academy recognizes the sanctity of each individual as created in God’s image. Villa faculty, staff and students seek to foster an environment of awareness, inclusion and compassion for everyone in our community and our guests, regardless of age, culture, faith, ethnicity, immigrant status, race, gender, sexual orientation, language, physical appearance, physical ability or social class. To this end, join us on Wednesday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. on Zoom as Tiq Milan discusses his transgender experience and how defining ourselves for ourselves can result in more love.
This talk will ask attendees to reflect on and take ownership of their own understandings of gender, queerness and how race intersects these notions.
Tiq Milan has been an advocate in the LGBT community for over a decade. He is a writer, journalist, consultant and a human rights advocate who carved a niche for himself as one of the leading voices for transgender equality.
