Welcome, John Everett!
Dear Villa Community,
I am very pleased to share with you that Mr. John Everett has been appointed as the Director of the Steven S Reinemund, Jr. Counseling and
Wellness Center.
Mr. Everett is a career educator and mental health practitioner with an impressive background working in schools to support students,
families, and faculty while developing and integrating strong social-emotional learning (SEL) curricula throughout a school’s program and
culture. After beginning his career in the Jefferson County Public Schools in Colorado as a teacher and school counselor, Mr. Everett has
spent the past ten years at international schools in Shanghai and Hong Kong. In Shanghai, Mr. Everett served as the schoolwide counseling
coordinator for a preschool through the twelfth-grade program. He supported curriculum integration and student wellbeing while serving as a
school counselor for middle school students. Mr. Everett was then recruited to serve as the SEL Coordinator and School Counselor for the
middle school community at a prestigious international school in Hong Kong.
Mr. Everett is a licensed professional counselor who holds an age zero through twenty-one counselor license, a teaching certificate, and a
K-12 principal license. Throughout his career, he has served in leadership roles that promote student safety, integrate SEL curriculum
across all aspects of a school’s culture and programming, and facilitate community-wide engagement in the wellbeing of students and
families.
Mr. Everett’s appointment as the Director of the Steven S Reinemund Jr. Counseling and Wellness Center at Villa Academy accentuates our
commitment to supporting children to reach their fullest potential throughout their preschool, elementary, and middle school years. Steven’s
family and friends have generously created the Counseling and Wellness Center as a legacy and honor of Steven’s life and dedication to
children and families.
The Counseling and Wellness Center is aligned with Villa’s mission and fulfills our mission to educate the whole child, academically,
spiritually, and emotionally, in the development of compassionate hearts, confident minds, and lives of service. In accepting this
appointment at Villa, Mr. Everett said, “I look forward to partnering with the Villa community to assure every child develops the skills
they need to thrive. It has been clear from each conversation I have had with Villa educators that so much positive social and emotional
work is already happening at Villa. I see this as an awesome opportunity to collaboratively take community wellness and mental health to the
next level for all the members of the Villa community. I am excited to move to Seattle and join your community!”
Mr. Everett’s leadership and collaboration with Ms. McCorry, Villa’s School Counselor, and the faculty and staff of Villa Academy will
establish the Counseling and Wellness Center as an exceptional resource for our community and a fitting legacy to the life, love, and
dedication Steven gave to our community for so many years.
We look forward to welcoming Mr. Everett, his wife, and their daughter to the Seattle area this summer and having his leadership and vision
at Villa for years to come.
