Growing in Compassion

Our founder, St. Frances Cabrini, worked tirelessly to help those in need. Our tradition of service is grounded in her legacy.

From Preschool to Middle School, students participate in age-appropriate, hands-on service learning integrated with projects in the classroom: helping a neighbor, working at a food bank, organizing donations of supplies for a charity, or visiting with senior citizens.

Just as important, deep reflection is a component of our service learning, as is the exploration of the underlying aspects of social inequality. For example, studying the issue of hunger, 4th graders further their understanding of food injustice through the eye-opening experience of going grocery shopping with only a food stamp budget.

By Middle School, students will fulfill nine hours of community service each trimester. Those who perform a total of 125 hours or more over the 12 trimesters of middle school earn the Mother Cabrini Award for Excellence in Service upon graduation.
